We were very pleased to open our doors to the next generation of young designers from across Melbourne’s universities. In all we had around 15 students get a glimpse into what it takes to take ideas to a reality. The feedback was great and we were encouraged to see such enthusiasm from these up and comers. We look forward to holding more of these events over the coming year.

this week we had the pleasure of attaending the 2011 Melbourne Design Awards. The event was held at Circa at the Prince in St Kilda. It was a great event with loads of fine food and wine. Throughout the night winners were announced where JC took out the Experiencial Design Category for the Paper Plane Academy.
It was great to hear the comments from the organisers about the event and the impact it is having with all those that participate. Onwards an updards

Well its official Joneschijoff is a finalist at the upcoming Melbourne Design Awards with the Paper Plane Academy Event. With more and more people grabbing their goggles and taking to the skies its great to see the Academy become bigger with every event. Now in its 3rd year the Academy has quickly to become a crowd favourite especially at the recent State Of Design Festival.

Frankie magazine, known for its great articles and amazing photography and all round coolness, featured a piece on the Paper Plane Academy. It was great to see that event the team at Frankie were getting in there and making some of their very own creations. No we can add co-pilot Frankie to the Academy squadron!

And it was one of ours! Did you catch a look at the great Paper Plane Academy pic on the front page of today’s Sunday Herald Sun? The Lift Out highlights all the great events for the upcoming State Of Design Festival – including our very own Paper Plane Academy!
What we love is that this really captures the essence of what we are trying to achieve with this event – fun for kids and a reconnection for adults to all that creativity and imagination that just came naturally when we were all a few decades younger! … remember?
Kids have an innate connection with their creative abilities. As Big Kids we must strive to reconnect with that very ability that children seem to use so effortlessly. This was the catalyst behind the creation of the Academy and the reason, to some part, for its ongoing success – its now in its third year.
Got kids? Why don’t you all come along this weekend. For all the info go to www.paperplaneacademy.com.au
The Paper Plane Academy was conceived and is run by JONESCHIJOFF. It is a hands-on creative workshop that aims to simplify and reconnect participants with design.
Everyone loves to be apart of it, from the making to the flying. We all remember what it was like to play…as adults we just need to do more of it.

The Team at JC are happy to announce the running of the Paper Plane Academy at the upcoming State Of Design Festival in Melbourne, Australia. The Academy was created by Joneschijoff to make design more accessible to all. With recent events at the Avalon International Airshow and Singapore we are very excited about the future.
Welcome all to the new site of JONESCHIJOFF. Over the coming weeks we’ll be providing more information about our practice and what goes into the product development process. We’re pleased to be able to better show our thinking and what inspires us on this site. So keep an eye out for the latest from the JONESCHIJOFF Team.
To everyone who is looking for our old website you can find it here:

We’ve had a lot of interest in our website since achieving a rank of #2. Some people loved it or hated it. The thing was that it didn’t fit in a box. The website was aimed at people that had already known about or met us. It was to give them a further insight into our thinking. Call it a ‘filter’ to the type of clients that we willing to be a little different. It was not intended to drive traffic via searches. Its been interesting to see the discussion being had online and in university courses regarding it. Our practice strives on creating and re-creating so our website was no different.
Now many of you will see that we have updated our website. Alas this has been due to the fact that, although flash captured the essence of our thinking in a visual sense, google had other thoughts. So in the ethos of re-creating we have updated our website for all to find.
So enjoy

The JONESCHIJOFF Team

Dean Benstead did the team at JONESCHIJOFF proud by representing us at the recent Mystery Box Challenge at DesignEx 2011. The Hettich Mystery Box Challenge evolved right before visitors over the 3 days of the show. Four young Industrial Designers, each designed and prototyped a product, live at the show, in just 3 days with only 10 materials. By all accounts everyone had alot of fun and enjoyed the friendly competition. Deans entry proposed a deeper exploration into what the bathroom of the near future could hold. A big congratulations goes out to Michael Denham for his winning entry.
Some highlights of Deans work can be seen below:

Biero celebrated its first birthday in style. Lots of music, dancing and drinking was had by all. It was great to see the Beervaults in action and going strong. Biero had the vision to back an idea and it was our pleasure to not just make it a reality but create real value through intellectual property. The boys are now working hard to distribute the Beervaults throughout Asia and globally. We wish them the best of luck.
